Summarized by: Angila Singh
We started the class with our Prayers, Meditation, Pranayama.
We did a recap from the last class and reiterated the fact that we may be doing Yagna but it still counts
as an action. The goal is to grow beyond Action and acquire the ultimate knowledge.
We discussed about how do we explain the Guru Shisya concept to current generation, the olden
methodology is submission and surrender which may not be relevant in the same sense for new
generation.
The advice is students can adhere to the ways they like but respect for Guru is not necessarily
submission . Students must understand the role of Guru in spiritual path. Young seekers must have
respect and faith not submission and surrender.
We watched Gurudev’s videos on Chapter 4 , Verse 38 and 39
1. How is wisdom gained?
Wisdom cannot be transferred . Each have to acquire for himself. One who has achieved purity
of mind through prolonged practice of Yog receives such knowledge.
The knowledge attained by realization from within through the practice of Yog is far superior to
theoretical knowledge of the scriptures.
2. Cultivating Faith
Develop belief into faith. Belief compounded by scripture study becomes faith.
Not all spiritual truths are immediately perceptible; some of them can only be experienced after
having attained sufficient elevation on the path. If we only accept what we can presently verify
or comprehend, we will be bereft of the higher spiritual secrets. Faith helps us accept what we
cannot understand at present.
Subjective analysis- Learn to act as the Seer like you are acting in a play.
We discussed real life examples of situations where acting as a seer made a difference in tough times .
Acting as Doer ( one who is worried about the results of an action) is the cause of all suffering . A
constant reminder and sadhana can train mind to not act as doer but Seer which is also the ultimate
truth.
